  • Toor dal or arhar dal – 1/4 cup
  • Urad dal – 1 tablespoon
  • Onion – 2 small sized (chopped finely)
  • Whole red chillies – 5 to 6
  • Ginger – 1 inch small piece
  • 10-12 curry leaves
  • A pinch of asafoetida
  • Chopped coriander leaves – 2 tablespoons
  • Salt to taste
