  1. TO MAKE BARS: Put together butter and sugar. Add in large eggs and vanilla. Mix well. Sift in flour, baking soda and salt. Mix well. Stir in oatmeal and nuts. Remove 2 cups of the mix for the topping. Press the rest into a greased 9 x 13 inch pan.TO MAKE FUDGE LAYER: In small saucepan put together chocolate chips, butter, lowfat milk and salt. Cook, stirring till melted. Remove from heat. Stir in nuts and vanilla. Spread over oatmeal layer. Sprinkle remaining bar mix over top. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 min.
