No Streak Homemade Window Cleaner Recipe
I never found a commercial window cleaner that worked amazingly well and was also affordable. So I went on the hunt for a homemade window cleaner recipe. I’ve tried several over the years, but I always come back to this one. I’ve tried ones with vinegar, ones with cornstarch, ones with Borax . . . they had all natural ingredients, but they didn’t work that well for me.
This one cuts through grease and grime, and evaporates so quickly that it doesn’t streak. Perfect every time!
I found this recipe years ago in a cleaning book I checked out of the library. It was originally made in a gallon sized jar, but I got tired of having to store an extra bottle, so I adjusted the amounts so that you can mix it right in your spray bottle. Much more handy. You’re welcome.
No Streak Homemade Window Cleaner
- 1/2 cup clear, non-sudsy ammonia
- 1 1/2 cups rubbing alcohol
- 2 tsp. dish soap
- 2 cups water (approximately)
Pour ammonia, rubbing alcohol, and dish soap into a 32 ounce spray bottle. Shake lightly to disperse dish soap. You don’t want it to fill up with bubbles or you have to let it sit for a few minutes. Fill the remainder of the bottle with water. That’s it!
Notes:
-Make sure you use the clear, non-sudsy ammonia, not the heavy duty stuff, or you will get streaks.
-I like to use microfiber cloths to clean my windows and glass because they don’t leave lint behind.
