Ingredients

  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 c. molasses
  • 1 c. shortening, melted (can use veg. oil)
  • 1 c. warm water (dissolve 1 tbsp. baking soda in it)
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 5 1/2 c. flour (approx.)

Directions

  1. Fold in order given. Add in flour so they will roll easily. Put mix in freezer for 2 hrs before trying to roll them out. You may want to use a pastry cloth, flour well, roll fairly thick. Cut with large cutters. Bake in a 375 degree oven for approximately 10 min. Yield: 5 dozen.
