- 12oz (360gr) ground beef (mince)
- 1 egg
- 3 tbs bread crumbs
- 1 tbs mushroom soy sauce substitute regular soy sauce
- 2 tbs ketchup
- 1 tsp dry mustard
- 1 tsp dried marjoram
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1/2 tsp smoky paprika
- Mushroom Sauce:
- 6oz (180gr) cremini mushrooms, chopped
- 3 shallots, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tsp olive oil
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 cup (8oz, 240ml) beef stock
- 1/3 cup (3oz, 90gr) Greek yogurt
- 1 tbs cornstarch (maizena, corn flour) dissolved in 2 tbs water

.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EUsually%20I%20make%20a%20large%20one%20with%20plenty%20leftover%20for%20sandwiches.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBut%20that%E2%80%99s%20winter%20cooking%20and%20I%E2%80%99m%20not%20in%20the%20mood%20for%20winter%20cooking.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBut%20mon%20mari%20didn%E2%80%99t%20quite%20have%20the%20barbecue%20grills%20(he%20has%20three%E2%80%A6.%20plus%20a%20smoker)%20ready%20last%20week%20so%20a%20giant,%20stuffed%20hamburger%20was%20out.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%20compromised%20on%20mini%20meat%20loaves.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20nice%20thing%20about%20the%20smaller%20size%20(besides%20getting%20my%20share)%20is%20they%E2%80%99re%20ready%20in%2045%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMini%20Meat%20Loaves,%20Creamy%20Mushroom%20Sauce%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETotal%20time:%2045%20minutes%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EInstructions:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20large%20bowl%20lightly%20beat%20egg%20with%20a%20fork.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20soy%20sauce,%20ketchup,%20crumbs,%20herbs,%20spices,%20and%20mix%20well.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20beef%20and%20mix%20well%20%E2%80%93%20best%20to%20use%20your%20hand,%20kneading%20it%20like%20bread%20dough.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EShape%20into%20two%20small%20loaves%20and%20put%20them%20into%20a%20shallow%20roasting%20pan%20large%20enough%20to%20hold%20it%20with%20room%20on%20all%20sides.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBake%20at%20400F%20(200C)%20for%2030%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERemove%20and%20spoon%20some%20(or%20all,%20depending%20on%20pan%20size)%20mushroom%20sauce%20over%20the%20top.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBake%2010%20minutes%20longer%20or%20until%20done.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERemove,%20slice%20if%20you%20like%20and%20serve,%20remaining%20sauce%20on%20the%20side.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMushroom%20Sauce:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHeat%20oil%20in%20a%20medium%20skillet.%20Add%20shallots%20and%20saut%C3%A9%205%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20mushrooms,%20garlic,%20paprika%20and%20saut%C3%A9%20until%20well%20browned.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20beef%20stock%20and%20bring%20to%20a%20simmer.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDissolve%20cornstarch%20in%20water%20and%20add%20to%20skillet,%20stirring%20until%20thickened.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERemove%20from%20heat%20and%20stir%20in%20yogurt.%20%20Set%20aside%20until%20needed.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20have%20a%20headache.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETo%20be%20honest,%20it%E2%80%99s%20a%20self-inflicted%20headache,%20resulting%20from%20repeated%20slaps%20to%20my%20forehead%20and%20the%20occasional%20thump%20of%20my%20head%20hitting%20the%20new%20washer.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%E2%80%99s%20not%20that%20I%20don%E2%80%99t%20have%20directions,%20I%20do.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETo%20digress%20a%20moment%E2%80%A6..%20There%20is%20an%20art%20to%20writing%20clear%20instructions.%20Very%20few%20people%20who%20actually%20write%20instructions%20are%20capable%20of%20doing%20a%20good%20job.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThey%20know%20too%20much.%20They%20assume%20other%20people%20know%20stuff,%20too.%20They%20forget%20to%20add%20the%20obvious%20to%20the%20guide.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBack%20in%20the%20beginning%20of%20time,%20when%20I%20worked%20with%20computers%20(main%20frames),%20I%20reviewed%20instructions.%20There%20was%20one%20employee%20who%20had%20the%20ability%20to%20screw%20up%20absolutely%20every%20key%20stroke%20and%20step%20of%20every%20application.%20She%20was%20wonderful.%20We%20wrote%20our%20instructions%20for%20her.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBack%20to%20the%20washer%E2%80%A6.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWithout%20going%20into%20details,%20I%E2%80%99ll%20just%20say%20that%20I%20set%20on%20the%20floor%20for%2015%20minutes%20with%20both%20sets%20of%20instructions%20before%20I%20managed%20to%20get%20the,%20still%20wet,%20soapy%20pile%20of%20laundry%20from%20two%20days%20earlier,%20started%20on%20a%20wash%20cycle.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20really%20only%20wanted%20a%20rinse%20and%20spin,%20but%20that%20escaped%20me.%20As%20it%20was%20I%20ran%20it%20through%20a%20%E2%80%98delicate%E2%80%99%20cycle,%20because%20the%20normal%20cycle%20said%20it%20would%20take%203%201/2%20hours.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E3%201/2%20hours%20to%20do%20a%20load%20of%20laundry??????%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThere%20are%2020%20options%20for%20wash%20cycles%20including%20one%20for%20baby%20clothes,%20colors%20that%20bleed,%20athletic%20clothes%20and%20duvets.%20There%20are%2010%20choices%20for%20water%20temperatures,%20ranging%20from%20cold,%20%20then%20every%2010%20degrees%20Celsius%20from%2020C%20through%2090C.%20And%20there%20are%206%20spin%20speeds.%20There%20are%20other%20options,%20but%20you%20get%20the%20idea.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EToday,%20I%20did%20a%20lot%20of%20laundry%E2%80%A6.%20I%E2%80%99m%20doing%20the%20spring%20cleaning,%20so%20I%E2%80%99m%20washing%20rugs%20and%20dog%20beds,%20etc.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20played%20with%20all%20of%20the%20options.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%20started%20to%20make%20sense,%20but%20I%20was%20still%20worried%20that%20the%20%E2%80%98recommended%20cycle%20for%20energy%20efficiency%E2%80%99.%20took%203%201/2%20hours.%20I%20mean,%20we%20bought%20the%20machine%20because%20it%20was%20efficient!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENothing%20I%20did%20today%20took%20longer%20than%2090%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20watched%20the%20start%20of%20each%20load%E2%80%A6..%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFinally,%20my%20brain%20registered%20what%20I%20was%20seeing.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAfter%20I%20hit%20the%20start%20button,%20the%20drum%20rocked%20back%20and%20forth%20for%2020%20or%2030%20seconds%20before%20anything%20happened.%20Then%20the%20cycle%20started%20and%20the%20time%20to%20finish%20appeared%20on%20the%20screen.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%20seems%20that%20the%20machine%20is%20determining%20the%20weight%20of%20the%20laundry%20and%20calculating%20the%20time%20needed%20to%20do%20a%20proper%20job.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENo%20where%20in%20the%20manual%20did%20anything%20suggest%20that%20this%20would%20happen.%20I%20thought%20it%20was%20odd%20that%20the%20water%20didn%E2%80%99t%20start%20immediately%20but%20thought%20it%20had%20something%20to%20do%20with%20heating%20it,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnyway,%20when%20I%20put%20in%20the%20sopping%20wet,%20partially%20washed,%20pile%20of%20leftover%20laundry%20the%20machine%20apparently%20decided%20I%20was%20doing%20bullet-proof%20vests%20and%20calculated%20the%20time%20accordingly.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20put%20in%20a%20load%20of%20regular%20laundry,%20selected%20that%20cycle%20and%20the%20time%20was%201%20hour%20and%2023%20minutes,%20not%203%20hours%20and%2037%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20now%20know%20how%20to%20use%20our%20new%20washing%20machine.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20think.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDid%20I%20mention%20that%20I%20can%20program%20and%20start%20the%20laundry%20from%20my%20smart%20phone?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECan%20anyone%20tell%20me%20why%20I%20would%20want%20to%20do%20that?%20I%20mean,%20if%20my%20smart%20phone%20could%20sort%20the%20laundry%20and%20put%20it%20in%20the%20machine%20we%20might%20have%20something,%20but%20as%20long%20as%20I%E2%80%99m%20right%20there%20I%20might%20as%20well%20turn%20it%20on.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELast%20update%20on%20April%2012,%202015%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMini%20Meat%20Loaves,%20Creamy%20Mushroom%20Sauce%20was%20last%20modified:%20%20April%2012th,%202015%20by%20Katie%20Zeller%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERelated%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
