%20of%20rainfall%20a%20year%20it%E2%80%99s%20considered%20one%20of%20the%20wettest%20places%20in%20the%20world.%20%20Weather%20is%20unpredictable%20causing%20helicopter%20tours%20to%20be%20cancelled%20often.%20Fortunately%20the%20day%20we%20went%20the%20weather%20was%20beautiful%20but%20windy!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20have%20to%20tell%20you%20I%E2%80%99m%20not%20a%20fan%20of%20helicopters%20and%20this%20was%20no%20exception!%20%20I%20didn%E2%80%99t%20want%20to%20sound%20like%20a%20ninnie%20so%20I%20kept%20my%20mouth%20shut%20and%20prayed%20our%20tour%20would%20go%20smoothly.%20%20If%20you%E2%80%99re%20not%20familiar%20with%20Milford%20Sound%20here%E2%80%99s%20a%20link%20to%20the%20history%20plus%20a%20video%20capturing%20the%20beauty%20of%20Milford%20Sound%20%E2%80%93%20the%208th%20Wonder%20of%20the%20World.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20can%E2%80%99t%20even%20begin%20to%20describe%20the%20beauty%20of%20Milford%20Sound%20and%20being%20able%20to%20view%20it%20from%20overhead%20was%20spectacular.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20have%20not%20doctored%20this%20photo,%20the%20water%20is%20actually%20that%20color.%20The%20lake%20is%20glacial-fed,%20and%20its%20turquoise%20blue%20color%20is%20attributed%20by%20the%20minerals%20that%20come%20from%20the%20mountains%20where%20the%20glacier%20is%20situated.%20If%20my%20memory%20serves%20me%20right%20this%20is%20Lake%20Te%20Anau%20the%20second%20largest%20lake%20in%20New%20Zealand,%20covering%20344%20square%20kilometers.%20It%20is%20situated%20near%20Fiordland%20National%20Park,%20which%20is%20famous%20for%20Milford%20Sound%20and%20the%20Milford%20Track.%20The%20lake%20is%20surrounded%20by%20the%20huge%20mountains%20of%20the%20Fiordland%20National%20Park.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDepending%20on%20the%20time%20of%20year%20the%20helicopters%20will%20land%20on%20the%20glaciers.%20%20As%20you%20can%20see%20in%20the%20photo%20above%20the%20glaciers%20have%20started%20to%20crack%20due%20to%20temperature%20changes.%20%20Talk%20about%20feeling%20like%20my%20life%20was%20closing%20in%20on%20me%20quickly%E2%80%A6%E2%80%A6%E2%80%A6%E2%80%A6.getting%20that%20close%20to%20the%20mountains%20with%20strong%20winds%20scared%20me%20to%20death.%20%20Thankfully%20I%E2%80%99m%20here%20to%20share%20our%20journey%20with%20you.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESince%20we%20were%20unable%20to%20land%20on%20the%20glaciers%20our%20next%20stop%20was%20this%20beach%20that%20was%20uninhabited%20and%20breathtaking!!!%20%20If%20only%20we%20had%20more%20time%20I%20would%20have%20enjoyed%20chilling%20there%20for%20a%20while.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOur%20next%20stop%20was%20at%20the%20Milford%20Sound%20Visitors%20Center%20to%20use%20the%20restroom%20and%20browse%20the%20area.%20%20In%20the%20photo%20above,%20just%20around%20those%20mountains,%20was%20a%20stunning%20waterfall.%20%20My%20picture%20didn%E2%80%99t%20do%20it%20justice%20but%20if%20you%20view%20the%20video%20link%20at%20the%20beginning%20of%20this%20post%20for%20Milford%20Sound%20you%E2%80%99ll%20be%20able%20to%20see%20it.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThere%20was%20a%20beautiful%20trail%20leading%20over%20to%20this%20location%20where%20they%20had%20just%20finished%20shooting%20Alien%20%233%20%E2%80%93%20Covenant.%20%20This%20is%20an%20action%20scene%20shot%20from%20that%20location.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20was%20certain%20this%20scene%20(photo%20above)%20was%20from%20the%20movie%20%E2%80%9CGoonies%E2%80%9D%20where%20the%20ship%20comes%20floating%20out%20at%20the%20end%20of%20the%20movie%20%E2%80%93%20I%20was%20wrong.%20%20That%20movie%20was%20shot%20in%20California%20and%20Oregon.%20%20Isn%E2%80%99t%20this%20photo%20beautiful?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOur%20last%20stop%20before%20ending%20our%20tour%20was%20a%20landing%20on%20a%20mountain%20top%20to%20take%20photos.%20At%20that%20point%20I%20couldn%E2%80%99t%20wait%20to%20get%20back.%20%20It%20was%20quite%20stressful%20for%20me%20getting%20so%20close%20to%20the%20mountains.%20%20That%20said,%20the%20trip%20was%20incredible%20with%20views%20unimaginable.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20you%20have%20the%20opportunity%20to%20travel%20to%20New%20Zealand%20I%20recommend%20visiting%20Milford%20Sound.%20%20Besides%20taking%20a%20helicopter%20tour%20you%20can%20drive%20there,%20tour%20by%20boat,%20kayak,%20plus%20they%20even%20have%20multi-day%20hikes%20depending%20on%20the%20time%20of%20year.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20realize%20I%E2%80%99ve%20gone%20several%20posts%20now%20without%20any%20recipes%20so%20I%20wanted%20to%20share%20my%20favorite%20dish%20in%20New%20Zealand.%20%20It%20was%20at%20a%20restaurant%20in%20Queenstown%20called%20Bostwana%20Butchery.%20%20Having%20had%20meat%20for%20so%20many%20meals%20and%20heavier%20dishes%20I%20was%20finally%20able%20to%20have%20some%20fish%20and%20veggies.%20%20Vegetables%20are%20scarce%20there,%20or%20so%20it%20seemed%20and%20a%20huge%20salad%20was%20just%20what%20I%20needed.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20had%20this%20wonderful%20salad%20with%20roasted%20beets,%20hazelnuts%20and%20a%20heavenly%20Vanilla%20Bean%20Vinaigrette.%20%20It%20was%20so%20tasty%20I%20asked%20for%20the%20recipe.%20%20A
