Ingredients

  • 2 lb grnd round steak
  • 3 lrg Large eggs
  • 2 slc bread, soaked in water
  • 10 ml garlic, mince
  • 4 Tbsp. parsley, chop fine
  • 2 Tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 c. onion, chop fine
  • 1 c. tomato paste
  • 1 1/4 quart water, warm
  • 1 dsh soda
  • 1 x bay leaf

Directions

  1. Combine ingredients for meatballs; mix thoroughly. Form into balls the size of walnuts. Heat extra virgin olive oil in heavy skillet. Brown meat balls, and remove.
  2. Combine onion, tomato paste, water, soda, and bay leaf in the skillet with the oil and meat drippings. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat. Simmer for five min.
  3. Add in the meat balls, continue to simmer for 45 min.
