Directions

  1. BROWN ALL THE MEAT in bottom of pot in the oil, add in the diced onions and cook till they turn clear, add in garlic , parsley, tomatoes, pepper, salt and Add in water to cover meat.
  2. Reduce heat, cover pot and simmer for 1 to 2 hours or possibly till meat is tender.
  3. Stir and skim off any fat which rises.
  4. While meat is cooking, cut cabbage into quarters (removing core) and then shred it. In a separate frying pan, cook cabbage in 3 teaspoon of oil with vinegar and brown sugar. Stir frequently till cabbage begins to brown. Add in the cabbage mix to main pot. Cook additional 45 minutes. to 1 hr. For additional flavor add in potatoes and carrots, especially if you have a crowd to feed.
  5. Goes well with black bread or possibly even Challah.
  6. NOTE: Prakas without all the work.
