%20and%20got%20a%20little%20tired%20of%20people%20complaining%20about%20getting%20too%20much%20kale.%20All%20this%20said,%20my%20shares%20this%20year%20have%20felt%20quite%20heavy%20on%20the%20greens.%20%20Though%20I%20could%20have%20used%20some%20more%20kale.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDon't%20get%20me%20wrong.%20%20I%20like%20leaves,%20and%20leafy%20greens,%20and%20they're%20good%20for%20me.%20Dan%20makes%20a%20kick-ass%20giant%20salad,%20so%20they%20almost%20never%20go%20to%20waste.%20%20Still,%20as%20the%20weeks%20went%20by,%20I%20kept%20expecting%20them%20to%20diminish,%20in%20favor%20of%20more%20hearty%20vegetables%20that%20I%20could%20use%20to%20make%20exciting%20recipes.%20%20Other%20vegetables%20did%20come,%20but%20in%20small%20number.%20%20Each%20week's%20share%20was%20only%20four%20or%20five%20different%20kinds%20of%20produce,%20instead%20of%20seven%20or%20eight.%20%20And%20there%20have%20been%20more%20%22side%22%20items%20like%20scallions%20and%20radishes,%20which%20can%20be%20hard%20flavors%20to%20build%20a%20dish%20around,%20rather%20than%20heartier%20elements%20like%20squash%20or%20tomatoes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20you're%20keeping%20track,%20like%20I%20am,%20to%20compare%20to%20other%20CSAs%20and%20other%20growing%20seasons,%20here's%20what%20we've%20gotten.%20%20I%20won't%20make%20you%20suffer%20through%20a%20thousand%20photos%20of%20salad,%20but%20you%20can%20guess%20that's%20usually%20what%20we%20were%20eating%20with%20these%20ingredients.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWeek%2003%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1/2%20pound%20of%20Spinach%20(leaves)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20head%20of%20Lettuce%20(leaves)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20bunch%20of%20Scallions%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20bunch%20of%20Quelite%20(leaves)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2%20Tomatoes%20(%22tomatoes%20are%20not%20in%20season%20yet,%20but%20we%20are%20able%20to%20offer%20them%20to%20you%20through%20McEnroe%20Organic%20Farm's%20greenhouse.%22)%20=%20Yay!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20tomatoes%20were%20beautiful%20and%20delicious.%20%20We%20sliced%20them,%20sprinkled%20them%20with%20salt%20and%20pepper,%20and%20ate%20them%20immediately.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWeek%2004%20Produce%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1/2%20pound%20of%20Spinach%20(leaves)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1/2%20pound%20of%20Verdolaga%20(purslane)%20(leaves)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20bunch%20of%20Kale%20(leaves)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20bunch%20of%20mint%20or%20tarragon%20(leaves)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20bunch%20of%20Scallions%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20week,%20the%20purslane,%20which%20I%20quite%20like,%20was%20gone%20by%20the%20time%20we%20picked%20up%20our%20share,%20so%20we%20went%20home%20with%20a%20cabbage%20instead.%20Cabbage%20is%20my%20least%20favorite%20CSA%20vegetable%20ever,%20but%20that's%20no%20one's%20fault.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWeek%2005%20Produce%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20Bunch%20of%20Kale%20(leaves)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20Bunch%20of%20Red%20Amaranth%20(leaves)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20Bunch%20of%20Radishes%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20Bunch%20of%20Basil%20or%20Oregano%20(leaves)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1/2%20pound%20of%20Heirloom%20Lettuce%20(leaves)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20lettuce%20this%20week%20was%20loose,%20rather%20than%20a%20head%20of%20lettuce,%20and%20incredibly%20bitter.%20%20I%20wish%20I%20knew%20what%20sort%20of%20lettuce%20it%20was.%20I'd%20avoid%20it%20in%20the%20future.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWeek%2006%20Produce%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20Bunch%20of%20Red%20Amaranth%20(leaves)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20Bunch%20of%20Heirloom%20Radishes%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20Bunch%20of%20Scallions%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20Bunch%20of%20Beets%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20pound%20of%20mini%20Bok%20Choy%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHello,%20stir%20fry!%20I%20love%20bok%20choy.%20This%20was%20a%20great%20week%20for%20non-leaves.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWeek%2007%20Produce%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20Bunch%20of%20Red%20Amaranth%20(leaves)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20Bunch%20of%20Basil%20(leaves)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20Bunch%20of%20Beets%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20head%20of%20Cabbage%20(leaves)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20pound%20of%20Summer%20Squash%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOops.%20%20The%20beets%20withered%20and%20died%20before%20we%20could%20get%20to%20them.%20%20Maybe%20beets%20are%20the%20new%20cabbage%20for%20me.%20%20There's%20just%20so%20much%20stain-y%20prep%20with%20beets.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWeek%2008%20Produce%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2%20Cucumbers%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20head%20of%20Cabbage%20(leaves)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20leaves%20are%20definitely%20diminishing.%20%20And%20cucumbers%20always%20make%20me%20happy,%20though%20we%20seldom%20do%20anything%20with%20them%20but%20eat%20them%20raw.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDo%20you%20belong%20to%20a%20CSA?%20%20Have%20you%20eaten%20a%20lot%20of%20greens%20this%20spring%20and%20summer?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ep.s.%20I%20seem%20to%20be%20missing%20a%20bunch%20of%20photos.%20%20I'll%20add%20some%20later,%20once%20I've%20had%20time%20to%20check%20the%20other%20camera%20for%20strays...%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
