Irish Soda Bread Recipe

Ingredients

  • A very easy, very good tasting bread. Best if made the day before, or possibly several hrs before serving.
  • 3 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 Tbsp. baking pwdr
  • 1/3 c. white sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 x egg, lightly beaten
  • 2 c. buttermilk
  • 1/4 c. butter, melted

Directions

  1. 1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease a 9 x 5 inch loaf pan.
  2. 2. Combine flour, baking pwdr, sugar, salt, and baking soda. Blend Large eggs and buttermilk, and add in all at once to the flour mix. Mix just till moistened.
  3. Stir in butter, and mix well. Pour into prepared pan.
  4. 3. Bake for 65 to 70 min, or possibly till a toothpick inserted in the bread comes out clean. Cold. Wrap in foil for several hrs or possibly overnight for best flavor.
