Ingredients
- 8 oz. Flour 2 cups minus 1 tablespoon AP flour
- 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
- 4 oz. Sugar 1/2 cup sugar
- 4 oz. Butter
- 3 or 4 apples, peeled and sliced
- Milk ( I used about 1 cup)
- 1/4 cup sugar for topping
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 -3/4 cup heavy cream

,%20mix%20in,%20but%20do%20not%20cream%20it%20or%20rub%20it%20in.%20%20Leave%20it%20as%20is.%20%20%20Really.%20%20(when%20it's%20baking%20the%20butter%20kind%20of%20bubbles%20up%20and%20looks%20so%20good,%20but%20the%20end%20result,%20works.)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20the%20peeled%20and%20sliced%20apples%20to%20the%20mixture,%20%20(I%20used%20Braeburn%20apples%20cause%20that's%20what%20I%20had.)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ethen%20add%20the%20beaten%20egg%20and%20enough%20milk%20to%20make%20a%20fairly%20stiff%20batter.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20will%20look%20really%20lumpy,%20with%20the%20apples%20and%20the%20butter%20but%20it%20should.%20%20%20%20Pour%20into%20a%20greased%20pan,%20I%20used%20an%208%20inch%20Springform%20Pan.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBake%20it%20for%20about%20an%20hour%20in%20a%20moderately%20hot%20oven,%20set%20at%20375%20degrees.%20%20Take%20out%20and%20let%20cool%20for%20just%20a%20couple%20of%20minutes,%20then%20release%20it%20from%20the%20pan.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E**%20Halfway%20through%20the%20baking%20time,%20sprinkle%20the%20top%20with%201/4%20cup%20sugar,%20and%20continue%20to%20bake.%20%20This%20makes%20a%20nice%20light%20sugary%20crust%20on%20top.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20made%20a%20little%20Caramel%20Sauce%20to%20drizzle%20on%20top,%20cause%20I%20thought%20it%20would%20go%20well,%20but%20you%20can%20also%20serve%20this%20hot%20out%20of%20the%20oven%20with%20some%20cream,%20or%20ice%20cream%20or%20custard.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECaramel%20Sauce%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1/2%20cup%20brown%20sugar%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2%20tablespoons%20butter%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1/2%20-3/4%20cup%20heavy%20cream%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHeat%20the%20sugar%20in%20a%20pan%20until%20it%20melts,%20add%20the%20butter%20and%20stir%20it%20around,%20then%20add%20the%20cream%20and%20continue%20to%20cook%20and%20stir%20over%20medium%20heat%20until%20the%20sugar%20crystals%20have%20dissolved.%20%20Serve%20immediately.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20have%20to%20say%20what%20I%20liked%20best%20about%20this%20is%20that%20it's%20not%20a%20modern%20recipe,%20it%20is%20an%20older%20recipe%20and%20as%20such,%20of%20much%20more%20interest%20to%20me.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBesides%20which,%20it%20just%20plain%20tasted%20great.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
