Ingredients

  • 2 c. flour
  • 4 tsp baking pwdr
  • 1 c. buttermilk Warm oil for frying

Directions

  1. Mix together and form into ball. Set aside to rest while you prepare the topping.
  2. Topping:1 lb. hamburger1 packet taco seasoning mix2 c. pinto beans1 can [14-16 oz] tomatoes and green chiles [such as Ro-Tel brand]
  3. Garnishes:Minced lettuceChopped tomatoesChopped onionsShredded cheeseSalsaSour creamBlack olives
  4. Cook hamburger meat till done. Drain. Add in taco seasoning mix and 1/4 c. water. Add in beans, tomatoes and green chiles. Turn to low and simmer.
  5. To cook bread, break into about 6 balls and flatten with hands. Fry in warm oil till puffy and done.
  6. To serve, place one fry bread on plate. Cover with hamburger topping. Top with garnishes as desired.
  7. Makes 6 servings.
