,%20which%20encompasses%201958%20-%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1961.%20%20The%20first%20%22Act%22%20involved%20the%20embossed%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ebottom%20pieces%20from%20Generation%201%20from%201958-59.%20%20%20The%20second%20Act%20encompasses%20the%20blurry%20blue%20ink%20generation%20(Gen%202)%20produced%20from%201960%20thru%201961.%20%20This%20generation%20also%20includes%20a%20new%20percolator%20design,%20but%20more%20on%20that%20later.%20%20Let's%20go%20all%20the%20way%20back%20to%20the%20beginning......%20%20%20(this%20is%20a%20recap%20of%20the%20%22In%20The%20Beginning%20-%20Corning%20Ware%201st%20Generation%20BPE%22%20post)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20the%20beginning%20of%20the%20beginning%20there%20were%20no%20P,%20B,%20W,%20N,%20A,%20C,%20S,%20DC,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EF,%20G,%20U%20or%20L%20model%20numbers..%20%20%20You%20see,%20Corning%20was%20unsure%20how%20well%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Etheir%20cookware%20would%20be%20received%20by%20the%20American%20housewife,%20so%20they%20made%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ea%20limited%20number%20of%20pieces%20for%20the%20initial%20release%20in%20the%20fall%20of%201958%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eto%20test%20the%20waters.....%20%20These%20would%20be%20the%201%20quart,%201%201/2%20quart%20and%201%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E3/4%20quart%20saucepan%20with%20fin%20lids%20(similar%20to%20the%20Pyrex%20FlameWare%20design)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ealong%20with%20the%2010%20inch%20skillet%20topped%20with%20the%20infamous%20pyroceram%20lid%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eadorn%20with%20more%20cornflowers.%20%20With%20only%204%20pieces,%20it%20was%20pretty%20easy%20to%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ekeep%20track%20of%20what%20was%20what,%20so%20no%20model%20numbers%20were%20really%20needed%20at%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ethis%20point.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECorning%20Ware%20ended%20up%20being%20such%20a%20hot%20seller%20that,%20by%20Christmas,%20retailers%20were%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Escreaming%20for%20more.%20%20So,%20in%20spring%20of%201959%20Corning%20unveiled%202%20additional%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eskillets%20(9%20inch%20and%207%20inch%20with%20fin%20lids),%20a%202%201/2%20quart%20Saucepan%20and%20the%20famed%208%20cup%20&%206%20cup%20pyroceram%20lipped%20percolators%20(which%20would%20later%20be%20referred%20to%20as%20P-108%20and%20P-106).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAll%20these%201st%20Generation%20pieces,%20percolators%20aside,%20had%20an%20embossed%20stamp%20on%20the%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ebottom%20stating%20either%20%22Corning%20Ware%22%20with%20a%20volume%20measurement%20or,%20in%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ethe%20case%20of%20the%20skillets,%20width%20in%20inches%20while%20others%20simply%20had%20%22Corning%20Pyroceram%22%20embossed%20on%20the%20bottom%20with%20no%20other%20identifying%20marks%20other%20than%20mold%20numbers%20for%20QC%20purposes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EUnlike%20the%201st%20Generation,%20Generation%202%20saw%20ALL%20the%20pieces%20being%20produced%20at%20the%20same%20time.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%20should%20be%20noted,%20that%20Trefoil%20was%20released%20in%201960%20as%20well.%20%20Thus,%20some%20of%20the%20first%20Trefoil%20pieces%20(1960-61)%20have%20blurry%20blue%20ink%20marks%20on%20the%20bottom,%20instead%20of%20P-series%20model%20numbers.%20%20These%20pieces%20should%20be%20paired%20with%20Fin%20Handle%20Pyrex%20lids%20as%20well.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%20was%20in%20the%20Fall%20of%201960%20that%20the%20original%20P-108%20&%20P-106%20Percolators%20were%20removed%20from%20the%20market.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%20had%20come%20to%20Corning's%20attention%20that%20pyroceram%20lip%20was%20a%20weak%20point%20in%20their%20percolator%20design...%20Thus,%20the%201st%20edition%20of%20the%20P-119%20and%20P-116%20with%20a%20stainless%20steel%20rim%20were%20released.%20The%201st%20generation%20of%20the%20P-119%20&%20P-116%20can%20be%20identified%20by%20the%20design%20of%20the%20handle.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20stainless%20steel%20rim%20was%20glued%20onto%20the%20pyroceram%20body,%20then%20the%20handle%20was%20bolted%20to%20the%20rim.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThese%20bolts%20were%20covered%20by%20a%20small%20piece%20of%20black%20plastic.%20%20The%20Black%20Starburst%209%20cup%20percolator%20(P-129)%20is%20designed%20this%20way.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20handle%20would%20be%20updated%20in%201963%20(2nd%20Generation)%20though%20the%20model%20numbers%20on%20these%20two%20pots%20would%20not%20change.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhere%20is%20your%20Corning%20Ware??%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
