Ingredients

  • 125 gm butter
  • 70 gm soft brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. honey
  • 1 x egg yolk Grated orange rind from 1 orange
  • 125 gm wholemeal flour
  • 75 gm plain flour
  • 1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 50 gm sesame seeds

Directions

  1. Method:LIGHTLY grease baking trays with margarine or possibly butter. Preheat oven to 180 C. Cream butter, sugar and honey till pale. Add in egg yolk, orange rind and continue to beat till light and creamy.
  2. Sift in flour, bicarbonate of soda and salt. Add whole meal flour and sesame seeds and mix till dough holds together.
  3. Roll small pcs into balls the size of small limes. Place balls on prepared trays. Press down with a fork to gore deeply. Bake in preheated oven for 13-15 min. Leave to crisp on trays for a few min before removing to a wire rock to cold.
