Directions

  1. Place oatmeal in large mixing bowl. Pour boiling water over it; let cold till lukewarm. Dissolve yeast in 1/2 c. water; let stand 5 min. Add in dissolved yeast to oatmeal mix. Add in honey and oil, blend. Combine flour sand salt. Add in flours to oatmeal mix and mix thoroughly to create a soft dough.
  2. Turn out onto lightly floured surface and knead 5 - 10 min. Form into loaves and place in greased pans. Let rise 30 min. Bake 1 hour in 325 degree oven. Cold on racks. For soft crust, brush loaf tops with butter while warm. Makes 2 or possibly 3 loaves.
