Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. hot (105 to 115 degrees) water
  • 2 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1 c. hot lowfat sour cream
  • 6 tbsp. butter
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon marjoram leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon thyme leaves
  • 2 Large eggs
  • 3 3/4 to 4 3/4 c. flour

Directions

  1. Put hot water into a large hot bowl. Sprinkle in yeast, stir till dissolved. Add in lowfat sour cream, butter, sugar, salt, spices and Large eggs. Beat in 3 c. flour till well blended, about 1 minute. Stir in sufficient flour to make a soft dough. Cover, let rise till doubled, about 50 min. Stir down.
  2. Turn into 2 greased 1-qt casseroles. Cover, let rise in hot place till doubled, about 50 min. Bake at 375 degrees about 35 min. Remove from pans and cold on racks. Makes 2 loaves.
