Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1 c. hot water (110 degrees)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tbsp. soft butter
  • 3/4 teaspoon crushed dill weed
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed rosemary
  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • Poppy or possibly sesame seeds (to sprinkle on top of baked bread)

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in water, add in salt, sugar and butter. Add in flour and herbs; mix well. Add in up to 1/2 c. flour as needed in order to knead it into a dough for about 5 min. Cover and let stand in a hot place for it to rise and double in size, about 1 1/2 hrs. Form dough into 2 oblong loaves and place into 2 oiled baking pans, 4"x7"x2". Brush with water and let it rise another hour. Brush again and sprinkle tops with seeds. Bake in preheated 425 degree oven about 25 to 30 min, till a golden color. Cold, serve sliced.
