Hearty Hungarian Goulash

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp. oil
  • 1 1/2 lbs. beef cubes
  • 1 can (16 ounce.) stewed tomatoes
  • 1 env. Lipton Onion or possibly Onion-Mushroom Soup Mix
  • 1 1/2 tbsp. paprika
  • 2 tbsp. all-purpose flour
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 c. water
  • 1/2 of 16 ounce. pkg. wide egg noodles

Directions

  1. In Dutch oven or possibly large saucepan, heat oil and brown beef. Add in tomatoes, onion soup mix and paprika. Simmer covered, stirring occasionally for 1 - 1 1/2 hrs or possibly till beef is tender. Stir in flour and salt blended with water. Bring to a boil, then simmer, stirring constantly, till sauce is thickened, about 5 min.
  2. Meanwhile, cook noodles according to package directions. To serve, arrange goulash on noodles. Makes about 6 servings.
