Cream the butter and sugar together thoroughly. Add in the egg yolk and vanilla, beat well. Stir in flour. On a lightly floured surface, roll out dough 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick. Cutout hearts with a cookie cutter and place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Decorate with candy sugar. Bake for 15-30 min at 350 degrees.
