Ingredients

  • 20 slices sandwich bread, crusts removed
  • 3 to 5 c. bite-sized cooked ham pcs
  • 10 ounce. sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • 10 ounce. Swiss cheese, grated
  • 6 Large eggs
  • 3 c. lowfat milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon each salt & onion salt
  • 1/2 c. melted butter
  • 3 c. corn flakes or possibly wheat flakes

Directions

  1. Cut bread in half and arrange half of them in a greased 9 x 13 inch pan. Arrange half of ham as second layer. Grate cheeses and sprinkle half of combined cheese on ham. Repeat layers. Combine slightly beaten Large eggs, seasonings and lowfat milk. Pour over layers. Cover and chill overnight.
  2. The next day, crush flakes and mix with melted butter. Sprinkle over strata. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 to 60 min. Let set at least 10 min before serving.
  3. Makes a good brunch or possibly luncheon dish.
  4. Serves 10 to 12.
