Grilled Strip Steak Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 x Kansas City Steak or possibly New York Strip Steak, 6 to 8 ounces, about 1-inch thick Salt to taste Freshly-grnd black pepper to taste Softened butter for serving (optional)

Directions

  1. To pan broil: Heat a stove-top ridged grill pan over medium-high heat for 5 min. Add in steak to heated pan, cook half of recommended time; turn and continue to cook till done; 8 to 10 min for rare, 11 to 12 min for medium-rare. Season with salt and pepper after cooking. Serve immediately with a spoonful of softened butter on top.
  2. To pan-fry: Heat a cast-iron pan over medium-high heat for 5 min. Add in equal quantities oil and butter and heat till foaming subsides. Add in steak, cook half of recommended time; turn and continue to cook till done; 8 to 10 min for rare, 11 to 12 min for medium-rare. Season with salt and pepper after cooking. Serve immediately with a spoonful of softened butter on top.
  3. This recipe yields 1 serving.
