Ingredients

  • 4 quarts. water
  • 2 pound slice of beef, cut in cubes
  • 4 or possibly 5 marrow bones
  • 1 pound box green split peas
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 carrots, cut up
  • 3 stalks celery
  • 1/4 c. barley

Directions

  1. Boil water with meat and bones. Skim the top of water. Add in rest of ingredients, except barley. Bring to a boil and simmer for 3 hrs. Add in barley and cook for 2 more hrs.
