Ingredients

  • Split green gram dal/Moong dal/Paasi paruppu - 1 cup
  • Raw rice/Pacharisi - 1/4 cup (optional)
  • Water - 8 cups
  • Jaggery - 600 grams or more
  • Cashew nuts - 10 or more
  • Cardamom pods - 5
  • Grated coconut - 1 spoon (or) Coconut pieces - 2 (1 inch long)
  • Milk - 1 cup (optional)
  • Ghee - 3 -4 spoons
  • (If you are not sure about the ratio of jaggery, dal and water see tip 1, below the procedure)
  • Dal : Jaggery : Water - 100 grams : 300 grams : 1/2 liter
