Ingredients
- 1 lb. lean ground chuck or sirloin
- 1 beaten egg
- 1/4 cup seasoned breacrumbs
- 1/4 cup minced fresh mint
- 3 tbs. chopped scallions, white and some green parts
- 1 tsp. Greek seasoning (store-bought)
- salt to taste
- olive oil
- Goat Cheese Tzatziki:
- 6 oz. Greek yogurt, like Oikos
- 1 oz. goat cheese (chevre), room temp
- 1/2 cup peeled, seeded, chopped cucumber
- 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
- 1 clove pressed garlic
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Optional: mini pitas, or pita slices
Directions
- Combine the tzatziki ingredients well and refrigerate several hours.
- Mix ground beef with other ingredients, roll into 1 1/2 balls. Refrigerate an hour.
- Heat oil in a skillet, saute meatballs until browned on all sides.
- Remove to paper towel-lined platter.
- Serve warm or place in chafing dish, with sauce on the side.
