Ginisang Monggo (Monggo Beans stew)

Monggo beans has been one of the primary meal of any Filipino family. Everyone has tried this for sure. It can be used as a substitute for rice too. I like to eat it as is without rice.

Ingredients

  • 1 500gpack Munggo or Mung bean
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/2 kilo chicken leg (thinly cuts)
  • 1 cup Ampalaya leave
  • 2 pcs medium sized tomatoes (chopped)
  • 1 medium sized onion (chopped)
  • 3 tbsp fish sauce
  • 24 ounces water
  • Salt to taste

Directions

  1. Place the Munggo or Mung bean in the pressure cooker with water and boil for 10 minutes
  2. Saute the garlic,onions, tomatoes then add the chicken and simmer for 5 mins
  3. Add the fish sauce and simmer for about 15 minutes or until the Chicken meat is tender
  4. Pour the cooked Mung beans and String Beans then simmer for 10 minutes, now add the vegetables leaves
  5. Add salt to taste
  6. Serve hot with Fried fish or Pork.
