Ingredients

  • 3 1/4 c. All-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp Baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Grnd cinnamon
  • 2 tsp Grnd ginger
  • 1/4 tsp Grnd cloves
  • 1 c. Butter softened
  • 3/4 c. Dark brown sugar firmly pac ked
  • 1 lrg Egg
  • 1/2 c. Unsulfured molasses
  • 1/2 c. Raisins Prepared icing in tubes And gels, all different colors From supermarket Cake decorations *

Directions

  1. Red hots, sprinkles, all kinds of decorations Preheat oven to 325. Whisk together flour, soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger, & cloves in bowl. In a large bowl, using electric mixer, cream butter & sugar. Add in egg & molasses. Beat till smooth on medium speed. Add in flour mix. Beat on low till well mixed. Separate dough into 2 balls & flatten into disks. Wrap each in plastic wrap. Refrigerate1 hour till hard.
  2. On floured surface, roll dough out to 1/4-inch thickness. With floured gingerbread "men" cookie cutters, cut out dough. Gather scraps & roll & cut out also. Use all dough. Place on ungreased cookie sheets about 1/2 inch apart. If you want, at this time, use the raisins for eyes or possibly other decorations. Press into dough. Bake 10 min till done. Don't overcook. Transfer to cold flat surface to cold. Gather all decorations & decorate the cookies.
