  • 2 lb lean chuck or possibly round steak - (to 2 1/2 lbs)
  • 1/4 c. flour Salt to taste Freshly-grnd black pepper to taste
  • 6 slc bacon cut small pcs
  • 2 x onions minced
  • 1 1/2 c. dark beer
  • 1/2 c. water or possibly beef broth
  • 1 dsh grnd cloves and nutmeg
  • 4 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. dry parsley flakes
  • 1 tsp dry thyme

Directions

  1. Cut meat into cubes, dredge in flour mixed with a little salt and pepper. Place bacon in fry pan and fry a few min. Add in pcs of meat and brown. Add in onions and cook 2 to 3 min.
  2. Transfer to crock pot. Stir in beer, water, spices, vinegar, brown sugar, and seasonings. Cover and cook on LOW for 8 to 10 hrs.
  3. Thicken juices with a mix of flour and cool water if you like. Serve with potatoes or possibly dumplings.
  4. This recipe yields 4 to 6 servings.
