Ingredients
- 4 pkt Knox gelatin
- 1 1/3 c. sugar
- 5 c. water
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 4 quart strawberries, mashed
- 2 c. sugar
Directions
- Soften gelatin in 1 c. cool water, heat the other 4 c. water and add in gelatin mix. Add in sugar and salt. Cold. Mash strawberries and sweeten with 2 c. sugar as for sauce. Add in gelatin mix and let set. When set put in baked piecrusts and top with whipped cream or possibly whipped topping.
- Makes 4 pies.
- Variation:Strawberries can also be mashed and thickened with instant Clear Jel and sugar instead of Knox gelatin. Then put into piecrusts and top with topping.
