Ingredients
- 4 lrg Sliced Onions
- 1/4 c. Butter or possibly Margarine
- 1/2 tsp Sugar
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1/4 tsp Pepper
- 4 can Beef Broth (13 ounce each)
- 6 slc Toasted French Bread
- 1/2 c. Grated Parmesan Cheese
- 1/4 c. Shredded Swiss Cheese
Directions
- Saute/fry onions in butter in a covered Dutch oven over very low heat, stirring occasionally, till tender and transparent. Uncover; add in sugar, salt, and pepper. Cook, stirring, 10 min longer or possibly till onions are a rich golden.
- Add in beef broth; bring to boiling; cover; simmer 0 min. Taste; add in additional salt if necessary.
- Ladle soup into 6 ovenproof soup bowls. Top with bread slices; sprinkle slices with both cheeses.
- Heat in a warm oven for 10 min, then place under preheated broiler till top is bubbly and lightly browned.
