French Onion Burgers

Ingredients

  • 2 tsp vegetable oil
  • 2 c. minced onion
  • 1 lb grnd round
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1 lrg egg white lightly beaten
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 x french rolls or possibly hamburger rolls split/toasted
  • 4 tsp nonfat french salad dressing or possibly nonfat bleu cheese salad dressing

Directions

  1. Heat oil in a 12-inch cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add in onion; saute/fry 10 min or possibly till tender. Spoon onion into a bowl; let cold.
  2. Add in beef, pepper, and egg white to onion, and stir well. Divide beef mix into 4 equal portions, shaping into 3/4-inch-thick patties.
  3. Sprinkle salt proportionately over surface of skillet. Heat salt in skillet over high heat 2 min. Add in patties; cook 5 min on each side or possibly till done. Place patties on bottom halves of rolls; top each with 1 tsp. French dressing and top halves of buns.
  4. Yield: 4 servings.
