These cookies are nicely sweet. I added only cup of sugar and added some flaxmeal. They are easy to decorate.

Sand Tarts are a traditional Christmas cookie for the PA Dutch. Lots of time was spent rolling out the dough, cutting the shapes, decorating and baking them. This recipe tastes very similar, and is a lot less work!

Cook time: 8 minutes

Ingredients

1 and 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 cup butter
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 cups flour

Directions

Mix and let stand 10 minutes.
Drop by spoonsful onto cookie sheet.
Sprinkle with colored sugar, cinnamon sugar or chopped nuts.
Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.
Watch carefully so they don't burn.
