.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESince%20I%20needed%20to%20cut%20each%20apple%20into%208%20slices,%20I%20enlisted%20my%208%20slice%20apple%20cutter%20for%20the%20job.%20If%20you%20don't%20have%20one,%20you%20can%20obviously%20use%20your%20paring%20knife%20to%20core%20the%20apple%20and%20cut%20into%20slices.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENext,%20I%20busted%20open%20a%20couple%20of%20tubes%20of%20crescent%20rolls.%20Separate%20the%20dough%20into%20triangles%20and%20then%20place%20one%20apple%20slice%20on%20each%20crescent%20roll.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERoll%20em'%20up%20and%20place%20them%20into%20a%2013%20X%209%20baking%20dish.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENow%20make%20the%20sauce.%20Melt%202%20sticks%20of%20butter%20(That's%20right....2%20WHOLE%20sticks!)%20in%20a%20saucepan.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThen%20stir%20in%201-1/2%20cups%20of%20sugar,%20until%20just%20combined.%20You'll%20still%20have%20a%20layer%20of%20butter%20over%20the%20sugar.%20Don't%20bother%20stirring%20it%20too%20hard%20or%20too%20much.%20It%20won't%20help.%20Just%20accept%20the%20obstacle%20presented%20by%20the%20mass%20quantity%20of%20butter%20in%20front%20of%20you%20and%20move%20on.%20:%20)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOh,%20and%20add%20a%20teaspoon%20of%20vanilla%20too.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAfter%20you%20stir%20in%20the%20vanilla,%20pour%20the%20sauce%20over%20the%20dumplings.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20now%20for%20the%20surprise%20ingredient:%20Mountain%20Dew!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20used%20about%2010%20oz.%20Pour%20it%20around%20the%20edges%20of%20the%20pan%20and%20down%20the%20center%20too.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAfter%20I%20poured%20in%20the%20Mountain%20Dew,%20I%20realized%20that%20I%20had%20my%20dumplings%20lined%20up%20into%20two%20fairly%20tight%20rows,%20so%20I%20moved%20them%20around%20a%20bit%20so%20that%20each%20dumpling%20had%20a%20chance%20to%20soak%20up%20the%20decadent%20sauce%20and%20brown%20evenly%20on%20the%20sides.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThen%20I%20sprinkled%20the%20whole%20pan%20with%20cinnamon%20before%20popping%20it%20into%20the%20oven%20for%2040%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20have%20to%20say%20that%20the%20whole%20house%20smelled%20pretty%20amazing%20as%20this%20dessert%20bubbled%20away%20in%20my%20oven.%20Here's%20what%20the%20dumplings%20looked%20like%20when%20I%20pulled%20them%20out%20to%20cool.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20now%20for%20a%20bite!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThese%20apple%20dumplings%20were%20yummy%20for%20such%20a%20little%20bit%20of%20effort.%20Here's%20how%20the%20Pioneer%20Woman%20described%20them:%20%22these%20are%20really%20surprisingly%20delightful!%20The%20texture%20of%20the%20crescent%20rolls%20becomes%20something%20entirely%20different%20during%20the%20baking%20process:%20the%20top%20gets%20delightfully%20crisp%20and%20flavorful,%20while%20the%20underneath%20side%20remains%20soft%20and%20mushy%20and%20more%20%E2%80%9Capple%20dumpling-y%E2%80%9D.%20And%20the%20Mountain%20Dew,%20coupled%20with%20the%20obscene%20amount%20of%20butter,%20creates%20a%20yummy,%20sweet%20sauce%20at%20the%20end.%22%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20took%20them%20to%20an%20afternoon%20get-together%20and%20they%20were%20a%20big%20hit!%20Of%20course,%20they%20were%20quite%20different%20from%20my%20grandma's%20apple%20dumplings,%20but%20wonderful%20in%20their%20own%20rite.%20Faced%20with%20an%20apple%20dumpling%20craving%20in%20a%20time%20crunch,%20I'd%20definitely%20make%20these%20again!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHere's%20the%20recipe%20from%20The%20Pioneer%20Woman%20Cooks%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EApple%20Dumplings%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%E2%96%A02%20whole%20Granny%20Smith%20Apples%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%E2%96%A02%20cans%20(8%20Oz.%20Cans)%20Crescent%20Rolls%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%E2%96%A02%20sticks%20Butter%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%E2%96%A01-%C2%BD%20cup%20Sugar%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%E2%96%A01%20teaspoon%20Vanilla%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%E2%96%A0Cinnamon,%20To%20Taste%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%E2%96%A01%20can%20(12%20Oz.)%20Mountain%20Dew%20Soda%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreparation%20Instructions%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPeel%20and%20core%20apples.%20Cut%20each%20apple%20into%208%20slices%20each.%20Roll%20each%20apple%20slice%20in%20a%20crescent%20roll.%20Place%20in%20a%209%20x%2013%20buttered%20pan.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMelt%20butter,%20then%20add%20sugar%20and%20barely%20stir.%20Add%20vanilla,%20stir,%20and%20pour%20entire%20mixture%20over%20apples.%20Pour%20Mountain%20Dew%20around%20the%20edges%20of%20the%20pan.%20Sprinkle%20with%20cinnamon%20and%20bake%20at%20350%20degrees%20for%2040%20minutes.%20Serve%20with%20ice%20cream,%20and%20spoon%20some%20of%20the%20sweet%20sauces%20from%20the%20pan%20over%20the%20top.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E*Notes:%20I%20did%20not%20butter%20my%20pan%20first...I'm%20pretty%20sure%20there%20was%20plenty%20of%20butter%20in%20this%20recipe%20to%20prevent%20sticking.%20Also,%20I%20only%20used%2010%20oz.%20of%20Mountain%20Dew.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENow...for%20the%20Meal%20Plan:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMonday%20October%2025th%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHam%20and%20Cheese%20Risotto%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETuesday%20October%2026th%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESlow%20Cooker%20Chicken%20Soft%20Tacos%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWednesday%20October%2027th%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPumpkin%20Peanut%20Soup%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThursda
