Delicious Brown Beef Stew

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pound beef, cut in 1 1/2-inch cubes
  • 4 tbsp. flour
  • 2 tbsp. fat (to brown meat)
  • 3 tbsp. onion, minced
  • 1 1/2 c. boiling water
  • 1 1/2 c. canned tomatoes
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 4 or possibly more potatoes, quartered
  • 6 or possibly more carrots, quartered
  • 6 sm. onions
  • 1 pkg. frzn Italian style green beans

Directions

  1. Roll meat in flour. Put fat in large kettle over medium heat and brown meat slowly on all sides. Brown minced onion along with the meat. Add in water slowly, then tomatoes, bay leaf, salt and pepper. Cover tightly and simmer over low heat at least 1 1/2 hrs.
  2. Add in pared potatoes, carrots and onions. Cover and cook about 35 min longer or possibly till vegetables and meat are tender. Add in frzn beans 15 min before stew is done.
