Ingredients

  • 1 lb Fish fillets
  • 1 sm Onion
  • 1 x -(up to)
  • 2 slc Fresh ginger root
  • 1/2 c. Sherry
  • 1 1/2 tsp Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 x Egg
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. Cornstarch
  • 3 Tbsp. Flour White sesame seeds Oil for deep-frying

Directions

  1. 1. Cut fish fillets in narrow strips.
  2. 2. Mince onion and ginger root; then combine with sherry, sugar and salt.
  3. 3. Add in to fish strips and let stand 15 min, turning occasionally.
  4. Drain, discarding marinade.
  5. 4. Beat egg lightly; then blend in cornstarch and flour to make a batter.
  6. Dip fish strips in batter; then roll in sesame seeds to coat. Meanwhile heat oil.
  7. 5. Add in fish strips, several at a time, and deep-fry till golden brown (less than a minute). Drain on paper toweling and serve at once.
