Directions

  1. Pour boiling water over dates and let stand while preparing other ingredients. Beat egg till light and add in sugar gradually. Sift together flour, baking soda, baking pwdr and salt. Stir walnuts into those dry ingredients. Add in dates and flour mix alternately to the egg mix. Stir in oil and vanilla. Pour into a greased 10 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 to 1 1/4 hrs. Bread is dark. Test in the middle.
