  • 1/2 med onion minced
  • 5 slc turkey bacon minced
  • 4 ounce grnd beef (80% lean)
  • 1 can vegetarian beans in tomato sauce - (16 ounce)
  • 1 can vegetarian baked beans - (16 ounce)
  • 1 can red kidney beans - (16 ounce) rinsed, liquid removed
  • 1/2 c. tomato sauce
  • 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 tsp liquid smoke - (to 2 tspns)
  • 1/2 tsp maple flavoring

Directions

  1. Lightly spray an unheated medium skillet with no-stick spray. Add in the onions and bacon. Cook and stir over medium-high heat till the onions are tender. Add in the grnd beef and cook till browned, stirring occasionally.
  2. Transfer the onion mix to a 4- to 6-qt crockpot. Stir in the beans in tomato sauce, baked beans, kidney beans, tomato sauce, brown sugar, liquid smoke and maple flavoring.
  3. Cover and cook on the medium-high heat setting for 4 to 6 hrs (if necessary, adjust the heat setting so the beans slowly simmer during cooking). Stir before serving.
  4. This recipe yields 10 servings.
