.%20%20I%20had%20groceries%20to%20put%20away%20and%20I%20could%20no%20longer%20just%20try%20to%20%E2%80%98fit%E2%80%99%20everything%20in,%20so%20I%20thought%20I%20would%20just%20straighten%20things%20up%20a%20bit.%20Two%20hours%20later%20my%20refrigerator%20could%20have%20had%20it%E2%80%99s%20own%20television%20show%E2%80%A6it%20was%20spotless%20and%20ad%20perfect.%20Butter%20stacked%20neatly,%20salted%20and%20unsalted%20no%20longer%20intertwined.%20Veggies%20in%20one%20bin,%20fruit%20in%20another%20and%20cheese%20in%20it%E2%80%99s%20own%20special%20place.%20Nirvana%20for%20someone%20like%20me.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20the%20course%20of%20that%20magical%20transformation%20I%20did%20come%20upon%20some%20things%20that%20needed%20to%20be:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPitched%20%E2%80%93%20You%20all%20know%20that%20little%20storage%20bin%20back%20in%20the%20%E2%80%98way%20back%E2%80%99%20that%20had%20been%20forgotten.%20Forgotten%20so%20long%20that%20the%20ingredient%20previously%20put%20in%20there%20was%20now%20indiscernible.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETaken%20out%20of%20refrigerator%20storage%20and%20put%20back%20into%20the%20bar.%20Three%20bottles%20of%20white%20wine?%20Really?%20I%20don%E2%80%99t%20even%20like%20white%20wine.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EUsed.%20Not%20in%20bad%20shape%20but%20at%20that%20moment%20it%20was%20time%20to%20do%20something%20with%20them%20or%20lose%20them%20forever.%20%20Something%20very%20%E2%80%98Top%20Gun%E2%80%99%20about%20them.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20me,%20number%20three%20meant%20time%20to%20use%20carrots,%20celery,%20mushrooms%20and%20leeks.%20I%20made%20two%20soups,%20one%20I%E2%80%99ll%20call%20Mirapoix%20soup%20because%20it%20was%20primarily%20carrots,%20celery%20and%20onion%20and%20this%20soup,%20using%20up%20a%20Costco%20sized%20container%20of%20mushrooms%20and%20one%20lone%20leek.%20(I%20call%20it%20a%20Costco%20sized%20container%20mostly%20because%20it%20was%20from%E2%80%A6tada%E2%80%A6Costco!)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20this%20red%20and%20white%20can%20represents%20the%20only%20version%20of%20cream%20of%20mushroom%20soup%20you%20have%20ever%20had,%20well,%20it%E2%80%99s%20just%20time%20for%20a%20change!%20Much%20like%20homemade%20tomato%20soup,%20this%20is%20so%20good%20and%20so%20easy%20that%20I%E2%80%99m%20sometimes%20upset%20that%20I%20spent%20so%20many%20years%20using%20the%20prepared%20versions.%20But%20no%20regrets%E2%80%A6as%20a%20girl%20they%20were%20the%20perfect%20beginning%20to%20my%20%E2%80%98cooking%E2%80%99%20experience;%20even%20learning%20to%20whisk%20as%20I%20added%20the%20water%20milk%20according%20to%20directions.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThough%20I%20had%20that%20gargantuan%20package%20of%20mushrooms,%20I%E2%80%99ve%20made%20this%20using%20smaller%20quantities%20more%20typical%20of%20what%20is%20available%20at%20the%20grocery.%20But%20I%E2%80%99ve%20got%20more%20than%20you.%20Neener%20Neener.%20:)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECream%20of%20Mushroom%20Soup%20with%20White%20Wine%20and%20Leeks%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo%20easy%20and%20so%20good;%20mushroom%20soup%20will%20never%20be%20coming%20from%20a%20can%20again!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreparation%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMelt%20the%20butter%20in%20a%20large%20skillet.%20Add%20the%20leeks%20and%20saute%20for%203-5%20minutes%20until%20they%20are%20tender.%20Add%20the%20mushrooms%20and%20continue%20to%20saute%20until%20they%20just%20start%20to%20soften.%20Do%20not%20overcook!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERemove%201/4%20cup%20of%20the%20mushroom%20mixture%20to%20use%20for%20garnish.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20the%20flour%20and%20mix%20with%20the%20leeks%20and%20mushroom%20mixture%20and%20cook%20for%202-3%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20the%20chicken%20broth%20and%20white%20wine%20and%20bring%20to%20a%20soft%20boil%20to%20thicken.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EReduce%20heat%20and%20add%20the%20half%20and%20half,%20cooking%20just%20until%20warm;%20garnish%20each%20serving%20with%20a%20spoonful%20of%20the%20mushroom%20and%20leek%20mixture.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2.0%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ehttp://www.creative-culinary.com/2011/10/cream-of-mushroom-soup-with-white-wine-and-leeks/%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20recipe%20brought%20to%20you%20by%20%C2%A9%20Creative%20Culinary%20%7C%20A%20Food%20and%20Cocktail%20Blog%20%7C%20Website:%20www.creative-culinary.com%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
