Cranberry Sauce (low sugar, if desired) Recipe

Cranberry Sauce (low sugar, if desired)

Fresh cranberry sauce at its best. I use orange juice so that I don't need to add so much sugar. Love it!

Goes Well With: thanksgiving dinner, turkey, stuffing

Wine and Drink Pairings: red

Ingredients

  • 4 cups fresh cranberries (1 12-oz. bag), rinsed
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 - 1 cup sugar (add to taste)

Directions

1. Combine the orange juice and 1/2 cup of sugar in a saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium-low heat.
2. Stir in the cranberries and return to a boil. Lower heat to a simmer and stir occasionally (and gently) while simmering for about 15 minutes, or until all the berries have popped.
3. Remove from heat and add additional sugar to the cranberry sauce if you desire.
4. Refrigerate until you are ready to serve. I prefer to bring it closer to room temperature for serving myself.
