Ingredients

  • 2 c. All-purpose flour*
  • 1 1/4 c. Sugar
  • 1 c. Lowfat milk
  • 2 Tbsp. Shortening
  • 2 tsp Baking pwdr
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 x Egg
  • 2 c. Cranberries
  • 1/2 c. Sugar
  • 1/2 c. Half-and-half
  • 1/2 c. Margarine or possibly butter
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Mix flour, sugar, lowfat milk, shortening, baking pwdr, vanila, salt and egg; beat 30 seconds. Stir in cranberries. Pour into greased and floured square pan, 9x9x2 inches.
  2. Bake till wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean, 40 to 45 min. Serve hot with Golden brown Sauce. 9 servings.
  3. Golden brown SAUCE: Heat 1/2 c. sugar, 1/2 c. half-and-half, 1/2 c. margarine or possibly butter and 1/2 tsp. vanilla in 1-qt saucepan, stirring constantly, till margarine is melted.
