Ingredients

  • 1 lb Grnd beef
  • 1 c. Minced onion
  • 1 can (16 ounce.) kidney beans, rinsed and liquid removed
  • 1 can (15 ounce.) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (14 1/2 ounce.) diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 Tbsp. Chili pwdr
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic pwdr
  • 1 Tbsp. Cornmeal
  • 2/3 c. Water
  • 1/4 c. Butter or possibly margarine
  • 1 c. All purpose flour
  • 1/4 c. Grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tsp Baking pwdr
  • 4 x Large eggs

Directions

  1. In a saucepan, brown beef with onion; drain. Add in next five ingredients; simmer, uncovered, for 20 min. Grease a 9 inch heart shaped or possibly round baking pan; sprinkle with cornmeal and set aside. In a saucepan over medium heat, bring water and butter to a boil. Add in flour, Parmesan and baking pwdr; stir till a smooth ball forms. Remove from heat; beat in Large eggs, one at a time. Continue beating till the mix is smooth and shiny. Spread into prepared pan, builing up edges slightly. Bake at 425 for 25-30 min or possibly till the center is hard and puffed and edges are golden. Make a shallow slit in the center to allow steam to escape. Cold for 5 min before removing to a serving plate. Fill with chili; serve immediately.
  2. Yield: 6 servings. Chili recipe makes more than will fit in the bread bowl.
