Ingredients

  • 1 c. flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp baking pwdr
  • 1/4 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/8 x 1/4 teaspoon garlic pwdr
  • 1/4 c. vegetable shortening
  • 1/2 c. lowfat milk
  • 1/4 c. shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 Tbsp. melted butter
  • 1/8 tsp garlic pwdr

Directions

  1. Combine flour, salt, baking pwdr, cream of tartar, sugar and garlic pwdr in a mixing bowl. Cut in shortening using a pastry blender. Mix lowfat milk and then cheese into mix with a wooden spoon. Drop by large spoonfuls onto greased baking sheet. Bake at 425 F for 10-12 min. Mix melted butter and garlic pwdr together and brush on hot biscuits as soon as you remove them from the oven. (These are very similar to Red Lobster's Cheddar Bay Biscuits but a lot better than the recipes which start with Bisquick, in my opinion.)
