Cheddar Black Pepper Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 2 c. All-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp Baking pwdr
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Coarsely grnd pepper, divided
  • 2 Tbsp. Chilled stick margarine, cut into small pcs
  • 3/4 c. Shredded extra-sharp cheddar cheese, (3 ounces)
  • 3/4 c. Skim lowfat milk Vegetable cooking spray
  • 1 x Egg white, lightly beaten

Directions

  1. Combine flour, baking pwdr, salt, and 1/4 tsp. pepper in a bowl; cut in margarine with a pastry blender or possibly 2 knives till mix resembles coarse meal. Add in cheese; toss well. Add in lowfat milk, stirring just till dry ingredients are moistened.
  2. Turn dough out onto a well-floured surface, and knead 4 or possibly 5 times.
  3. Roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness; cut with a 2-inch decorative cookie cutter. Place biscuits 1 inch apart on baking sheets coated with cooking spray, and brush with egg white; sprinkle with remaining pepper. Bake at 425 degrees for 15 min or possibly till lightly browned.
