Cake In A Jar Recipe

Ingredients

  • 6 x Wide (1 pt) mouth canning jars
  • 1 x Yellow cake mix
  • 1 pkt (4 serving size) vanilla instant pudding mix
  • 4 x Large eggs
  • 1 c. Water
  • 2/3 c. Oil Candy coated chocolate pcs for "buttons" (M&M's)

Directions

  1. Jars, seals and bands must be sterilized prior to use. Cover with water and boil for 15 min. Dry jars. Allow seals and bands to remain in warm water or possibly re-heat before cakes are finished baking.
  2. Blend all ingredients, except candy. Mix for about 2 min. Add in a handful of candy. Grease jars. Pour one c. batter into each jar. Drop a few candies on top of batter. Place jars on a cookie sheet, not touching each other. Bake at 325 degrees for 45 min. Don't over bake. Carefully remove from oven. Place seals and screw bands on jars. Don't over tighten.
  3. Let cold. For gift giving you can paint the lids and seals, glue real buttons where desired and tie raffia around edge of lid. Write recipe on index cards - decorate with a few buttons and give a cake and recipe to someone special. For prolonged storage, keep cakes in refrigerator.
