Butter Nut Shortbread Bars Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 c. softened Butter
  • 1 c. firmly packed Sugar, Brown
  • 2 c. Flour, All Purpose
  • 1 tsp Baking Pwdr
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 2 x Egg Whites
  • 1 c. minced Walnuts or possibly Pecans

Directions

  1. Place butter and brown sugar in mixer bowl. Attach bowl and flat beater to mixer. Turn to Speed 2 and mix about 1 minute. Stop and scrape bowl. Add in flour, baking pwdr, and salt. Turn to Speed 2 and mix about 1 1/2 min, or possibly till dough forms.
  2. Press dough into greased 15X10X1 inch baking pan. Beat egg whites with fork till slightly foamy. Brush dough with egg whites, using only as much as needed to cover lightly. Sprinkle with minced watnuts.
  3. Bake at 375 for 20 -25 min. Cut into bars while hot. Cold on wire rack.
