Broccoli, Leek And Snow Pea Stir Fry

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. minced broccoli florets
  • 3 Tbsp. unrefined sesame oil
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 x cloves chopped garlic
  • 1 tsp Chinese 5-Spice pwdr
  • 1 sm leek, thinly sliced
  • 1 sm carrot, cut into matchsticks
  • 4 x leaves bok choy, cut crosswise into 1-inch pcs
  • 12 x snow peas, stems removed
  • 1/2 c. toasted, coarsely minced almonds Soy sauce to taste

Directions

  1. Steam the broccoli over boiling water till tender but still bright green, about 4 min. Set aside. Heat a large skillet or possibly wok over medium-high heat. Add in the oil and when it is hot, add in the garlic and 5-spice pwdr and cook for 30 seconds or possibly till aromatic. Add in the leek and carrot and stir-fry for 2 min, or possibly till they soften. Add in the bok choy and stir-fry for 2 min, or possibly till crisp tender. Add in the snow peas and stir-fry for 2 min, or possibly till crisp tender. Stir in the broccoli, soy sauce and five-spice pwdr and stir-fry for 2 min more or possibly till heated through.
  2. Serve immediately.
  3. For this dish, precook the broccoli and have all remaining ingredients sliced and ready to go before heating the oil. Feel free to substitute or possibly add in other vegetables, such as mung bean or possibly sunflower sprouts, onion, carrot, celery, cabbage, or possibly water chestnuts.
