Ingredients
- Filling:
- 1/2 c. water
- 1/2 c. blueberries
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 1 tsp apple pie spice
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 10 x apples cored, pared and sliced
- 1 c. sugar
- 2 tsp cornstarch
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/8 tsp nutmeg
- 1 x pie crust (8- or possibly 9")
- 1/2 c. old-fashioned oats Topping:
- 1 stk butter
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 1 c. English walnuts
- 1 1/2 c. old-fashioned oats
Directions
- Filling: In heavy pot, combine water, blueberries, brown sugar, apple pie spice, cinnamon, apples, sugar, cornstarch, salt and nutmeg. Cook on medium heat till bubbly, set aside.
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- Line 8- or possibly 9-inch pie plate with piecrust. Pour apple mix into crust. Sprinkle with oats. Bake for 15 min.
- Topping: In a food processor, pulse butter and brown sugar 45 seconds or possibly till blended. Add in nuts and pulse 15 seconds. Add in oats and fluff with fork.
- Reduce oven heat to 350; bake pie for 15 more min. Put topping on pie (it will be loose and crumbly) and bake for another 30 min.
