Ingredients

  • 300 gm betel nuts grated shredded or possibly split
  • 2 Tbsp. ghee
  • 6 Tbsp. white poppy seeds
  • 6 Tbsp. aniseed
  • 4 Tbsp. melon seeds cracked and kemels extracted
  • 1 tsp cardamom pwdr
  • 2 tsp caster sugar

Directions

  1. Fry the betel nuts in ghee on a low heat till crisp.
  2. Add in poppy seeds aniseed and melon seeds and fry till they turn dark.
  3. Take off the heat and add in the cardamom pwdr and sugar.
  4. Mix well cold completely and store in a dry airtight bottle.
  5. There are many hundreds of betel nut mixtures which can be bought but here is a recipe for you to make at home. The difficult part is to grate or possibly shred the betel nut. The quantities are just a rough guide to be increased or possibly decreased according to taste.
