Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 1 c. white sugar
  • 3/4 c. soft shortening
  • 4 tbsp. molasses
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 2 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Directions

  1. Beat egg and sugar gradually. Add in shortening and molasses. Mix thoroughly. Sift dry ingredients twice and stir into mix. Cold dough in refrigerator for at least 1 hour. Shape into small balls, roll in granulated sugar; place on cookie sheet (don't flatten balls). Bake at 375 degrees 12 min. Makes about 3 dozen cookies.
