.%20I%20made%20them%20wait%20for%20lunch.%20For%20a%20whole%20hour.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENow,%20don%E2%80%99t%20worry.%20They%20didn%E2%80%99t%20starve%20to%20death.%20It%20was%20a%20really%20close%20call,%20but%20they%20pulled%20through.%20Those%204%20hours%20between%20breakfast%20and%20lunch%20nearly%20did%20them%20in,%20but%20I%20got%20off%20my%20butt%20and%20fed%20them%20just%20in%20the%20nick%20of%20time.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOf%20course,%20once%20the%20food%20was%20cooked%20and%20the%20house%20smelled%20like%20a%20weird%20mixture%20of%20beer%20(!)%20and%20cheese%20(!)%20and%20pretzels%20(!),%20I%20sent%20everyone%20off%20to%20the%20dining%20room%20to%20wait%20(im)patiently%20while%20I%20photographed%20their%20meal.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESeriously,%20is%20it%20just%20me%20or%20are%20hungry%20children%20and%20husbands%20the%20whiniest%20creatures%20on%20Earth?%20I%20mean,%20my%20word.%20I%20don%E2%80%99t%20think%20anyone%20was%20literally%20starving,%20but%20the%20moaning%20and%20wailing%20and%20rolling%20around%20the%20floor%20while%20crying%20big%20fat%20tears%20was%20sure%20enjoyable%20to%20watch.%20Except%20not.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo,%20if%20you%E2%80%99re%20looking%20at%20the%20pictures%20of%20the%20little%20pretzel%20sandwiches%20and%20you%E2%80%99re%20thinking,%20dang%20girl,%20that%E2%80%99s%20some%20crap%20photography%E2%80%A6well,%20blame%20it%20on%20the%20whiners.%20They%20rushed%20me.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThese%20photos%20do%20not%20do%20this%20sandwich%20justice!%20First,%20you%20have%20chicken%20that%E2%80%99s%20been%20slow%20cooked%20in%20beer.%20Because,%20beer.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThen%20you%20have%20a%20cheese%20sauce%20that%E2%80%99s%20made%20with%20beer.%20Because,%20beer.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThen%20you%20have%20pretzel%20rolls%20that%20are%20slathered%20with%20dijon%20mustard,%20because%E2%80%A6beer?%20I%20don%E2%80%99t%20know.%20I%20was%20drunk%20at%20this%20point%20and%20mustard%20sounded%20good.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYou%20can%20use%20my%20pretzel%20roll%20recipe%20for%20the%20buns%20here.%20Just%20shape%20them%20as%20big%20or%20as%20small%20as%20you%20like%20and%20adjust%20the%20bake%20time%20accordingly.%20Or%20you%20can%20be%20a%20cheater%20pants%20and%20hit%20up%20Costco%20for%20the%20big%20bag%20of%20pretzel%20buns.%20Either%20option%20is%20delicious.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd,%20if%20you%20want%20something%20to%20serve%20with%20these%20guys,%20may%20I%20suggest%20some%20of%20my%20crispy%20battered%20french%20fries?%20You%20can%20either%20dip%20them%20in%20the%20extra%20cheese%20sauce%20or%20you%20can%20make%20my%20easy%20fry%20sauce%20recipe.%20It%20won%E2%80%99t%20be%20the%20healthiest%20lunch,%20but%20I%E2%80%99m%20pretty%20sure%20you%E2%80%99ll%20love%20it.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYield:%208%20sliders%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPrep%20Time:%2010%20minutes%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECook%20Time:%208%20hours%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETotal%20Time:%208%20hours%2010%20minutes%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDirections:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlace%20the%20chicken,%20beer,%20garlic,%20salt,%20and%20beer%20in%20the%20slow%20cooker%20and%20cook%20on%20low%20heat%20for%208%20hours%20or%20high%20heat%20for%204%20hours.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhen%20done,%20shred%20the%20chicken%20with%20two%20forks.%20Meat%20should%20shred%20easily.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETo%20prepare%20the%20cheese%20sauce,%20melt%20the%20butter%20in%20a%20medium%20sauce%20pan%20over%20medium%20heat.%20Whisk%20in%20the%20flour%20and%20cook%20for%202%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhisk%20in%20the%20beer%20and%20milk%20and%20continue%20cooking%20and%20whisking%20until%20the%20sauce%20is%20smooth%20and%20thick,%20about%205%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETurn%20heat%20to%20low%20and%20add%20the%20cheese,%20a%20small%20handful%20at%20a%20time,%20stirring%20until%20melted%20before%20adding%20the%20next%20handful.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStir%20in%20the%20chives.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETo%20serve,%20warm%20the%20pretzel%20buns%20in%20the%20oven.%20Split%20and%20spread%20one%20side%20with%20mustard.%20Top%20with%20the%20chicken%20and%20cheese%20mixture.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDon%E2%80%99t%20miss%20a%20post!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStay%20Connected:%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
