Beef Livers With Onion Gravy

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs. beef liver, sliced
  • 2 c. onions
  • 1 pt. water
  • 3 or possibly 4 tbsp. butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Accent
  • 1/4 teaspoon Tabasco
  • 2 tbsp. beef base
  • 1/2 teaspoon brown gravy sauce (Kitchen Bouquet)
  • 2 or possibly 3 tbsp. cornstarch

Directions

  1. Batter liver with flour which is seasoned with salt, pepper and Accent.
  2. Place on broiler pan, spread butter on top and broil till tender and lightly browned, turn; brown other side.
  3. Mix water, butter, salt, black pepper, Accent, Tabasco, beef base, brown gravy sauce and onion and simmer till onions are tender. Mix cornstarch with 1/3 c. water and add in to gravy mix.
  4. Place liver in baking dish and pour gravy mix on top, cover and steam for 35 min. NOTE: Can also be broiled on the grill or possibly in a heavy skillet.
